Typical Landscape charentais Vineyards

Holihocks La Maison d’Elise is located in the beautiful area of the 1er cru de cognac vineyards of the Grande Champagne. Many small country lanes spread out among these vineyards linking small villages and farms where you will find and taste cognac and pineau "at their source" (on request, the owner will happily prepare various routes to help you discover the best the area has to offer). Alternatively, you could spend days visiting the many 11th and 12th century churches you will find in the centre of all the villages of the area. In Cognac (15 km / 9 miles) and Jarnac (3 km / 2 miles) you can also visit the world renowned Cognac houses such as Hennessy, Rémy-Martin, Martell, Courvoisier and Otard.
Within 1.5 hours' drive of Gondeville you will find:
-The sea town of Royan and the sunny beaches of the "Côte de Beauté".
-The "bassin de Marennes-Oléron" (the most important oyster producing area in France and the source of 60% of France's oyster production). A world where earth and sea merge where you will find small fishing ports in the middle of seemingly dry land and where life never stops.
-The natural reserve of Hiers-Brouage, where you can observe multitudes of different birds from specially created observation posts
-The towns of La Rochelle and Rochefort who on their own, justify the day's trip.
-The vineyards of Brodeaux: Médoc, Saint Emilion, etc.
-Fouras (Fort Boyard, 100 km / 61 miles - 1h15) and the islands of Oléron, Ré and Aix.
